Learn to See Before You Learn to Draw

Beginners often think they can't draw because their hands won't cooperate. Almost always, the real issue is seeing.

We copy what we think is there — symbols of eyes, symbols of trees — instead of what's actually in front of us. Learning to see means slowing down and observing relationships: angles, proportions, light.

Once your eye catches up, your hand follows faster than you'd expect. That's why our foundations always start with seeing.
